Mu-mimo Vs Su-mimo in 4g Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
With the advent of IMT-Advanced, for the first time the target throughput obtained from wireless networks became comparable with wired counterparts. LTE and WiMAX have been the two main standards developed by 3GPP. The need to enhance the LTE and WiMAX has been driven by demand for higher spectral resources by the smart wireless devices in place of conventional phones. This transition from LTE to LTE Advanced has been brought about by the introduction of new functionalities like Carrier aggregation, enhanced use of Multi-antenna techniques and support for relay nodes. Similarly the transition of WiMAX(Rel 1.0) to WiMAX(Rel 2.0) has been enabled by including support for multi-hop relay operation, extended MIMO modes, support of femtocells and self-organization features. In this paper, a comparison of Single user MIMO and Multi-user MIMO is drawn, and evaluation is done for their feasibility under different environment.

Precoding for Multiuser MIMO
Future Wireless Networks are expected to adopt multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) systems whose performance is maximized by making use of precoding at the transmitter. This chapter describes the recent advances in precoding design for MU-MIMO and introduces a new technique to improve the precoder performance. Without claiming to be comprehensive, the chapter gives deep introduc...
متن کاملChannel Capacity Evaluation for Urban MIMO Systems Using Path Visibility
Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) and Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) systems are expected to improve the channel capacity over the limited bandwidth of existing wireless communication networks. The effects on the channel capacity characteristics of Single-User MIMO (SU-MIMO) systems in urban scenarios have been previously studied. In this paper, we first clarify that the larger number of antenna...
متن کاملSingle-user MIMO versus multi-user MIMO in distributed antenna systems with limited feedback
This article investigates the performance of cellular networks employing distributed antennas in addition to the central antennas of the base station. Distributed antennas are likely to be implemented using remote radio units, which is enabled by a low latency and high bandwidth dedicated link to the base station. This facilitates coherent transmission from potentially all available antennas at...
متن کاملMode Switching for the Multi-Antenna Broadcast Channel Based on Delay and Channel Quantization
Imperfect channel state information degrades the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications; its effects on single-user (SU) and multiuser (MU) MIMO transmissions are quite different. In particular, MU-MIMO suffers from residual interuser interference due to imperfect channel state information while SU-MIMO only suffers from a power loss. This paper compares the through...
متن کاملAn efficient user scheduling scheme for downlink Multiuser MIMO-OFDM systems with Block Diagonalization
The combination of multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an attractive solution for next generation of wireless local area networks (WLANs), currently standardized within IEEE 802.11ac, and the fourth-generation (4G) mobile cellular wireless systems to achieve a very high system throughput while satisfying quality...
